And to enable you to distinguish the pretenders (hypocrites) from the upstanding ones, fight with the words
of the truth against them and put them to the proof and test so that you understand how to recognise their
attitude (mentality) because they only speak with their mouth, but not with truth of knowledge, so they are
going astray in their speaking. |

Und damit ihr die Verstellenden (Heuchler) von den Aufrichtigen unterscheiden mögt, so kämpft
mit den Worten der Wahrheit gegen sie und stellt sie auf zum Beweis (Probe), auf dass ihr deren
Gebaren (Gesinnung) zu erkennen versteht, denn sie sprechen nur mit ihrem Mund, nicht aber
mit Wissenswahrheit, so sie sich in ihrer Rede verirren. |

And do not follow those who are pretending (hypocritical), because they do not keep death away from themselves, instead they kill themselves in chickenheartedness (cowardice) when they are sick of the life or when it
is difficult for them and they do not want to bear the difficulty of existence; truly, those who are sunk into
chickenheartedness (cowardice) are close to the unlife (misery) and the untruth, but they do not want to accept
it. |

Und folgt nicht jenen, welche sich verstellen (heucheln), denn sie halten nicht den Tod von sich
selbst ab, sondern töten sich selbst in Jämmerlichherzigkeit (Feigheit), wenn sie des Lebens
überdrüssig sind oder wenn es ihnen schwer wird und sie die Erschwernis des Daseins nicht
ertragen wollen; wahrlich, die in Jämmerlichherzigkeit (Feigheit) Versunkenen stehen dem Unleben (Elend) und der Unwahrheit nahe, doch sie wollen es nicht begreifen. |
