If a separation between man and woman has been pronounced and a letter of separation given, then they
may join together again and contract a new bond of marriage; this shall not happen more than twice, because
it is not permitted three times since this proves that the relationship of marriage and the human bond between
the two cannot be maintained and gives rise to discord, therefore the man and woman discharge one another
from the bonds of marriage in a decorous wise and in kindheartedness, and give one another the letter of
separation so that the bond may not be concluded between the pair on another occasion. |

Ist eine Scheidung zwischen Mann und Weib ausgesprochen und ein Scheidebrief gegeben,
dann können sie wieder miteinander einig werden und ein neues Bündnis der Ehe schliessen;
das soll nicht mehr als zweimal geschehen, denn dreimal sei es nicht erlaubt, weil dann erwiesen
ist, dass das Verhältnis der Ehe und das menschliche Band zwischen beiden nicht haltbar ist und
Zerwürfnis hervorruft, also auf geziemende Art und in Güte Mann und Weib einander aus dem
Bund der Ehe entlassen und sich den Scheidebrief geben, auf dass das Bündnis nicht ein andermal zwischen beiden geschlossen werde. |
